The 'mandate'

All this talk about the president's "mandate" strikes me as a bit overblown, considering his is the narrowest incumbent victory in almost 100 years.

Still, it's not surprising that the GOP would consider this a landslide victory when, after all, they lost the 2000 election and still got their man in the White House.

(Rumor has it that if Kerry won the election, the GOP was going to pass out flyers in rural America saying that Kerry's "man-date" was a bubble bath with his life partner Victor.)
