The Ugly

We are officially a laughingstock. Today's embarrassing loss provoked 2 belly laughs from the ESPN Red Sox/Yankees Baseball Tonight crew.

The first laugh was on the play where Craig Wilson took 4 steps back on a ball that landed 10 steps beyond the infield dirt.

The second laugh was on the Little League style 1-4-6 force out. Throw to the base, Josh. Throw to the base.

The only bright spot, I think, is McClendon giving the ball to Meadows and Vogelsong with the game out of hand. They got back on the horse in front of the home fans, and neither left the game worse for wear.

It's ironic that a guy like McClendon -- good role player, pinch-hitter/third catcher -- has just one skill as a manager: taking care of his pitchers.

That said, he's fired by May 15.

you're giving him that long? I say if they don't win this series in Cincy (Please please lose horribly these next 3 games...PLEASE!) that Mac is gone before they get back to Pittsburgh. Is it time for Russell to step in?

Yeah, i'm at the point where i want them to lose every game. Hit rock bottom and force their hand. They will have to fire Mac and shake up the roster. It will be the best thing for this organization.
I also think we need a "Die Hard" night at the stadium. The Hardcore fans need to show up in unison to voice our disgust. Whether it be wearing bags over our heads, or whatever. I think our voice needs to be heard. Staying away from the stadium won't do it.

If hitting rock bottom was the solution, then we'd have become competitive a long time ago. At this point, we are like a pebble bouncing along the bottom of a stream bed.

I disagree...we've been maintaining a level of mediocrity where people keep showing up, keep root, root, rooting for the hometeam - with some boos here and there (or are they directed towards bonds and a-ram?). If we could get an entire sellout crowd to boo, show up in disgust...wait a minute...do you think McClatchy would care? he had a sellout. just give me one winning season. please.
